Idea Development

How we got to our finished product

Idea Development

Our idea started off with Ray explaining how we can use the song [Reboot] by Waterparks and explaining the idea of the song. We all thought it was a good idea and started to discuss about colours, footage ideas, scenes and locations. One of our original ideas was to use a smoke bomb but after we did some research, we had found out we cannot use the bomb unless we are in private property and are above the age of 18. This was a problem as only one of our members are 18, which meant the decided against the idea. Once the idea had been scraped the went ahead and listened the the song a few times and wrote out the script, while writing the script we noticed how we can use some of the lines to match them up with actions and scenes.

After a few days of planning and doing surveys for some other ideas we had to explain our idea and make a proposal. While making the proposal, we started to look into what locations we could use which ended up being decided and Lauren and Rays properties and the College TV Studio for the greenscreen and blacked out walls. We had to get the location permission forms for these locations so we printed out the forms, done risk assessments and recces and went for the forms to be signed. The TV studio was simple to do as well as the property ones.

From here, we looked into how much the props, transport and extra expenses would cost and make up our budget sheets, one for our budget and another for a real production.

Once we had our Pre-Production Folder complete it was onto production week where ideas came during recording. This was fine as we were able to adapt all our scenes for the ideas fast and the new ideas came out to work better. Two main ideas were in the TV Studio. These ideas were for the camera to go around Ray while he is singing to have a stage like effect and the other was to have a projector shooting colours and effects onto Ray while he sings with a changing background.
